Prepare to embark on a heartfelt journey as I open up my experiences, both joyous and sorrowful, that have contributed to my growth and self-discovery. Join me as I reflect on the twists and turns of my life and share valuable lessons that I’ve learned along the way.
In this chapter, I delve into the humble beginnings of my life, growing up in a lovely small town in Gandara, Samar. From mirthful moments spent with my family to the struggles we faced together, When I was a 2-year-old little girl, my mom and dad had chosen to divorce because they kept fighting for no reason, and my mother found out that our dad had been secretly seeing another woman. After mom left us, my childhood was very traumatic and chaotic. I have been abused, mistreated, and treated so badly by the mistress of my father. I, the two-year-old innocent girl, experienced and endured this treatment that I didn’t even deserve for six years. And after 6 years, my dad has decided to go to Manila to make up, to find my mom, and to forgive him for the wrongdoings he did. I share my deeply personal tale of survival resilience and healing from childhood trauma to the long road to recovery. I paint a vivid picture of the idyllic surroundings that shaped my early years.
And beyond junior high school was a transformative period of my life, paving the way for new experiences, knowledge, and personal growth. In this chapter, I recount the exhilarating journey of pursuing junior high school life. Including the academic triumphs, relationships formed, and invaluable life lessons I learned during this critical phase. Junior high school was probably one of the busiest and most challenging years of my life. Balancing schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and scandalized tests was tough, but it was all worth it in the end. I received the grades that I deserved and test scores, and most importantly, I learned valuable time-management and study skills.
Now in my senior high school year, when I first came here to City High as a transfer student, I felt like a fish out of water; I didn’t know anybody, and it was hard to make friends because everyone has known each other for years. I was also surprised by how many classes and extracurricular activities this school offers compared to my old school, where there were limited options. This was probably the most nerve-wracking experience of my life. Going to a new school with unfamiliar faces and a completely different environment was overwhelming, to say the least. At first, I was feeling homesick and missed my old friends and the familiar feeling of my previous school. As time went by, I started to realize that being a transferee was not so bad after all. Sure, it was hard at first, but I learned to be more open-minded, confident, and adaptable, which are essential skills in life. Now that I am a senior and looking back, I am grateful for the opportunity to transfer. This new environment has challenged me to become a better version of myself. I have made friends, learned new things, and, most importantly, discovered more about myself. I am excited to see what the future holds and the possibilities that lie ahead. High school may be coming to an end, but the experience and memories that I have gained will be with me forever.
